In this guide, I’ll share some of the best Japanese foods you should try first, based on what I personally found easy and enjoyable. These dishes helped me understand Japanese cuisine step by step.

Ramen was one of the first Japanese dishes I truly enjoyed.

It felt familiar, like a noodle soup, but with a much richer and deeper flavor. The broth can vary from light soy-based to thick pork-based, so there’s something for everyone.
